On June 23, 2012, the 120,000 tons/year styrene plant of Baling Petrochemical Company produced a styrene product with a purity of 99.98%, achieving a successful start-up operation. On this basis, the device adopts the sequential separation azeotropic heat recovery technology. The instrument display and calculation results show that the T402 overhead azeotropic heat exchanger recovers about 70% of the heat at the top of the tower and saves about 7 tons/hour of water vapor. The energy-saving effect is better than the design value. The overall energy consumption of the device can be reduced by more than 15%, and all indicators have reached the international advanced or leading level. This technology was jointly developed by the Shanghai Petrochemical Research Institute, East China University of Science and Technology and Shanghai Engineering Co., Ltd. The styrene complete set of technology led by Shanghai Institute of Technology has been successfully applied to Fushun Petrochemical Company's 30,000-ton/year installation since 1994.
